Inverso’s annual summer dance intensive is back!
Inverso Summer Intensive 2024 will focus on personal artistic development through dance through and finding sustainable tools for healthy dance practise. There will be a special dance health workshop as part of this week that also may be attended separately. The week is open to emerging (including students 16+) or professional dance artists with an existing dance practise with a morning class *open to all levels and abilities. We are grateful to be co-presented by SFU Woodward's Cultural Programs in association with SFU School for the Contemporary Arts. If you want to know more please contact [email protected].
Consisting of 4.5 hours per day over the course of 5 days, the intensive will be led by Heather Telford and Lesley Telford. Heather Telford has had an international career dancing with Gothenburg Opera (Göteborgs Operans Danskompani), Le Grand Théâtre de Genève and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. She is leading a daily improvisation session. Lesley Telford, Artistic Director of Inverso and former dance artist with Nederlands Dans Theater will share her own methodology of technique class combining classical form with contemporary function as well as choreographic tools and research. Inverso is interested in offering personalized mentorship and developing a long term supportive connection with dancers.

DANCE HEALTH COMPONENT
July 31st
10am-1.30pm with Heather Telford and Marla Waal
We will host a special dance health workshop with Marla Waal and Heather Telford. Both artists found who were professional dance artists who developed their work in other supportive health contexts. Heather is a trained craniosacral practitioner and yoga teacher. Marla is an incredible resource in our community regarding dance and health involving multiple body-awareness methodologies. Marla teaches Yoga, Dynamic Anatomy with Eric Franklin (the Franklin Method), Pilates, the ELDOA™ Method, and Buteyko Breathing.
Cost
$450/ Full intensive
$120/ Morning Classes plus Dance Health Day *open to all
$100/ Daily morning classes (10-11.30, M-F) *open to all
$50/ Dance Health Day (10-1.30, W) *open to all
No one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Please contact us if a partial scholarship is needed.

Thank you Lesley and Heather again for the amazing week. I actually played around with the concept of elastics and leaving traces of myself behind during yesterday’s performance and had a lot of fun implementing those ideas. I’m looking forward to playing around with the other concepts/ tools you both have given me :)
