An introduction to a mix of traditional masked dance practices and contemporary Indigenous dance by Raven Grenier from the Dancers of Damelahamid. We will go over embodying landscapes and working to create space in relation to the physical art forms practiced on the west coast from Raven’s Gitxsan heritage, including practicing dance through the framework of activated formline. Please bring comfortable clothing and water. Tooyaxsi nu’um.

Raven grenier
Raven Grenier is a Gitxsan, Mushkegewok (swampy Cree) and mixed settler Indigiqueer artist residing in Salish territory. They are an emerging choreographer, dancer, Indipop artist, and visual artist in formline design, working with Indigenizing and upcycling fast fashion brands, printmaking, and collaborative formline jewelry work. Raven's first production, its first iteration known as Wolverine, will premier at The Cultch as part of their 2027/2028 season. Wolverine has been performed and was created through pakitnam 2024, was performed at Coastal Dance Festival 2025, Vines 2025, and Transform Festival 2025. Raven was also the emerging artist in residence for Raven Spirit dance for 2025/2026.
