This workshop welcomes all movers from community dancers to professional.
Class will develop from an internal warm-up to work with some basic exercises combined with improvised interludes to find coordination, balance, articulation and using gravity as a tool. Through sensation-based tasks we will focus on the source of movement initiation, progressively building a sense of momentum to develop coordination, dynamics and freedom of movement while incorporating a somatic approach to awareness and agency. We will work towards expanding the imagined space of your physical presence. Task-based prompts are suggested and each dancer is encouraged to listen to their body regarding range, safety and comfort. Take this class sensitively and/or to challenge yourself, it’s up to you!
Next Series in September: Thursdays we are offering Improv for all ages. This is a beautiful thing that has emerged naturally alongside our intergenerational performances. It has been inspiring to work with mixed ages and we welcome all curious movers into the space. Dance belongs to all of us, regardless of age. Together, we can support the creative process at all life stages. Most importantly, it's about the joy of moving together!!
